Simon Cowell’s Bodyguard Was Asleep When A Burglar Hit His Home

Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman

Simon Cowell’s home was in the early hours of last Friday hit by a burglary that shook the mogul, who nevertheless went ahead to appear at the X-Factor semi finals the next night.

Cowell, his girlfriend Lauren Silverman and their son Eric, were asleep upstairs when the robbery took place. Unfortunately, they weren’t the only one sleeping at the time. Cowell’s bodyguard and his dog were also both taking soothing naps at the time.

Speaking to the Sun, the 56 year old hinted that a review of his security arrangements is imminent.

“One person won’t be here.” He said ominously.

“It’s not what they stole, it’s the fact they got into the house. That was the frightening thing, the idea someone was in my house.”What if a nutcase got in? That’s what worries me.

“What’s more concerning is how we stop people getting into this house. Wherever you live someone can get in.

“Maybe I have to get bigger guard dogs.”

Cowell also spoke about the intense fear they felt for their son, when they realised an intruder had gotten into the house.

“It was nerve- racking. Lauren was woken up with me and we checked on Eric.

“That was the first thing we did, to make sure he was OK.

“Apart from the fact someone broke into my house and stole my stuff, which is scary, it could have been worse. Thankfully no one was hurt.

“But we have the worst guard dogs in the world.”

A security guard who patrols the neighbourhood gave chase to the burglar, and was able to retrieve a bag full of stolen jewels, as well as Cowell’s passport.

“He’s got a big Christmas present coming.” a grateful Simon added.
