The nominations list for the 2016 Grammy awards was released a few hours ago, and for the first time ever, a Ghanaian makes an appearance on the list.
Rocky Dawuni is that man to make history, landing a nomination in the Best Reggae Album category. His critically acclaimed ‘Branches of the Same Tree’ is the album with the novel nomination.
Dawuni is a decades old veteran of the Ghanaian music scene, who has performed internationally throughout his career. The level of exposure he holds vindicates his ability to become the first ever to score this nomination for Ghana.
The Grammys are slated for the LA Staples Centre in February next year. Below is the category for Best Reggae album. You can check out the full nominations list here.

Dj’s feed us with trash music on radio all the time! There are Ghanaians doing some really good music and all we know is azonto and alkayida..diversity is what makes a vibrant music scene. At least someone on this site who listens to good music was wise enough to put Rocky on his top ten all time list! Congratulations Rocky! Proud Ghanaian
