Movie About Barack And Michelle Obama’s Romance ‘Southside With You’ Is Set For January Debut At Sundance Film Festival

The first couple have been married for twenty three years and counting, making them always seems statesmanlike and dated- but they were once a young couple revelling in the things young couples revel in.

A new drama set to chronicle the couple’s first date together, in 1989, would be screened at next January’s Sundance Film Festival. Titled ‘Southside With You’, it follows how the young Barack Obama managed to convince Michelle Robinson, his then boss- to go out on a date with him.

Tika Sumpter (The Haves and The Have Nots, Ride Along) has been cast to play the young Michelle, whilst Parker Sawyers (Zero Dark Thirty) would play the young Barack.

The movie is written by Richard Tanne, and produced by Tracey Bing and Stephanie Allain. Sumpter and Tanne would executive produce the movie.

The Sundance Film Festival is set for 21 to 31 January 2016 in Park City, Utah.
