Maurice Ampaw Says Asamoah Gyan Set Up Ekow Micah

Ekow Micah

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw does not hold back from using all means possible of making a point, despite him being a lawyer and therefore someone who should know better.

The lawyer has a running battle against Asamoah Gyan, and doesn’t shy away from stoking the controversy. After Ekow Micah won his acquittal from charges of marijuana possession, Ampaw says the entire case was one, giant, set up, orchestrated by Asamoah Gyan.

Using what he called innuendos, the lawyer, speaking on Hitz Fm, insinuated that Gyan was the only one who had to benefit from Micah’s incarceration, and therefore  must have been the one who set him up. He did all these without mentioning Gyan directly, of course.

“As for some of us, we believed we knew what was going on… those who planted it, some of us, we know what’s going on,” he said.

“Who has interest in Ekow Micah going to jail? Who has Ekow Micah offended? Through who was Ekow Micah arrested? Who wants Ekow Micah jailed? To serve whose interest? If you ask these questions, you would know who orchestrated it. Ask Ekow Micah who came to him to do ABCD against Sarah Kwabla so they drop the case?”

When he was pressed on whether he was referring to Asamoah Gyan, he tried maintaining some plausible deniability.

“I’ve not mentioned Asamoah Gyan. Whom the cap fits, let him wear it. I have not mentioned Asamoah Gyan. I said who are those who caused the arrest of Ekow Micah and who are those who went to him to start negotiations? These are the people and they know themselves… I’m giving you clues. This is what we call innuendos,”

Ekow Micah was recently acquitted of possession, although police are still investigating charges of conspiracy to extort and blackmail.
