Growing up from an abusive home—where the head of the family is always on the neck of the mother can have a detrimental effect on a child’s confidence and on his/her future relationships.
Ghanaian actress, Vicky Zugah, has recounted how her father abused her mother whilst growing up.
Vicky, who witnessed the behavior of her father, says it’s uncalled for—and wished others will refrain from such demeanor due to its consequences.
According to Vicky, her parent’s marriage hit the rocks because her mother was not able to endure the beatings from her father.
“I don’t want to say this but I will because father has regretted his actions and has asked for forgiveness. I also want this to serve a deterrent to people out there. My mother left my father because, my father used to beat her.
“This was something that happened most of the times in my presence. Constantly, there were misunderstandings, the long and short of all is that, I grew up in an abusive home,” she said in an interview with Delay on the Delay Show on Viasat 1.
Vicky is the third child of her parents, Mr. Komla Zugah and Ms Beatrice Patu, who brought forth four children before they divorced.
