In arguably the fiercest of the just ended NDC primaries, protégé Sam George impressively floored his mentor, NDC veteran and Ningo-Prampram ‘Mugabe’, E.T Mensah- in the race for the NDC parliamentary slot in the constituency.
Sam George polled 4,910 votes, representing 53.4% of total votes- whilst ET Mensah polled 2,831 votes, representing 38.5%. of the total votes cast.
This election in particular had been hectic, with confusion breaking out on Saturday to the extent that it had to be postponed to Sunday. And it was fascinating to behold because George was a protégé of Mensah, but their fight had descended to the gutters as the competition heated up.
In the end, the Ningo-Prampram MP since the 1996 elections lost the mandate, for the fresh faced usurper, the Presidential staffer Sam George- to take over the reins for the 2016 parliamentary elections. He better hope he doesn’t lose the seat the NDC has held since time immemorial.
