The French terror attacks that shocked the world last Friday is still all too fresh in the minds of everyone, and thus nobody is in any mood to witness a repeat of the incident.
Islamic State terrorists hit a concert hall in Paris, as well as a few other venues. They killed over 120, injured many more, and plunged the world into shock over the barbarity of their actions.
Since then, investigations have revealed the terrorists hail from France and neighbouring Belgium, and that the mastermind of the attack is in Belgium.
Thus the terror threat level in Belgium remains high, and since the Stade de France where France was playing Germany- was targeted in the initial attack- the decision has been taken to call off Tuesday’s nights friendly game between Belgium and Spain, for fears of a similar attack.
The Belgian FA says the decision is “deeply regretted” but that “Taking into account the exceptional circumstances, we cannot take any security risk to our players and fans,”
Still in mourning, France’s national side would take on England in a friendly game at the Wembley stadium, also on Tuesday night.
