Google Self Drive Car Pulled Over By Police For Moving Too Slowly

Whilst Google works non-stop to get us to the point of self driven cars, the stories we keep hearing about this technology always seems to be on the lighter side.

There once was a story of the google car getting into an altercation with another test self drive car. And now, it has been pulled over for being too slow.

The incident happened in California, after its slowness on the road led to traffic backing up behind it.

The cop who noticed its speed pulled it over, noting that the driving was too over cautious.

The Mountain View police department noted in a statement that an officer “noticed traffic backing up behind a slow-moving car in the eastbound lane”.

“The officer stopped the car and made contact with the operators to learn more about how it was choosing speeds along certain roadways and to educate the operators about impeding traffic,”

The car was travelling at 24mph in a 35mph zone.

Google’s statement said “We’ve capped the speed of our prototype vehicles at 25mph for safety reasons. We want them to feel friendly and approachable, rather than zooming scarily through neighbourhood streets.”

Better safe than sorry, I guess.
