It might seem that the NPP is seconds away from catching fire- but the party is not ready to relent on the presence of Paul Afoko in the party.
The party’s national Chairman was suspended by the National Executive Committee a fortnight ago, for supposedly having mixed loyalties. The aftermath of that decision has been a series of one fracas after another- culminating in the unfortunate stabbing of a party member at Asawase in Kumasi last week.
Despite fighting non-stop to have the decision rescinded, even making an appeal to the National Council, the second highest decision making body in the party; that august body has voted to uphold the suspension.
The vote, held on Thuraday November 12- ended with almost universal agreement on upholding the ban. Out of 77 people, 70 voted for the suspension to be upheld, six abstained from voting, with only one person voting for him to be reinstated.
It remains to be seen what the incredibly stubborn Afoko’s next move would be.
