A Pastor in Accra has been arrested for illegally connecting power to his church. The pastor was arraigned before court for costing the company damages to the tune of Ghc 4,000.

Michael Mensah, founder of the Global Prayer Palace at East Legon, was charged with two counts of power theft and intentionally interfering with supply of electricity. He pled guilty to the counts and has agreed to pay the amount back to the company.

I never get it why people intentionally defraud the public companies- yet when they’re arrested, they’re asked to just refund the monies.

If nobody is punished, how does that serve as a disincentive?
