Bice Osei Kuffour is really keen to remain on as boss of MUSIGA past this year. The elections, which takes place on 1 November, is set to be keenly contested.
Speaking on Happy FM, Obour attempted to juxtapose how much musicians earned when he took over in 2011 to now; to show how much progress has been made under his tenure.
“In 2011, how much was top Ghanaian artists earning? Our top artists included Samini, Sarkodie, VIP, R2Bees and the highest a top act could charge was Ghc10,000.
“I was among the top artists and we all met and decided to charge within that range.”
According to Obour, this year, the top artistes are earning much more than that.
“Within the four years I’ve been President and built investor confidence to the extent the people want to pay more.
“As we speak, the last Ghana Music Awards, organisers paid artists GHC50,000 to perform. Within a spate of four years, the investor confidence is high now because of our hard work things are good.”
So vote Obour, for our artistes to earn more money. That’s not a difficult to grasp campaign message.
