‘Integrity is a luxury only the mega rich have use of’, is a wise saying someone once said. Which someone, I don’t know? (I think I made it up right now.)
Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) says at a point she almost quit music because she had become nothing but a money making machine. According to her, she was left with nothing but promoting products for people, and her creativity had to take a backstage to advancing the perfect image to the public.
“I feel sad when I’m overworked, and that I just become a money making machine, and that my passion and my creativity take a back seat; that makes me unhappy.” She said in an interview as part of her Emotion Revolution project.
“I have had to make decisions. ‘Why am I unhappy? Okay, Stefani, Gaga, hybrid-person; Why are you unhappy? Why is it that you wanted to quit music years ago?'” she said she continually asked herself
Lady Gaga said to get rid of that feeling, she stopped taking on a lot of the promotional stuff; including perfume sponsorships and long days of taking promotional photos and selfies.
“Slowly but surely, I remembered who I am,” she continued.
“Then you go home and you look in the mirror and you’re like ‘Yes, I can go to bed with you every night.’ Cause that person? I know that person. That person has balls. That person has integrity. That person just doesn’t say yes.”
She also touched on the current social media craze, where real relationships have taken a backseat to fake online ones.
“This is the age that we live in,” she said
“We’re not actually communicating with each other. We’re unconsciously communicating lies.”
