Warm and fuzzy are not the two words that would come to mind when you hear the name Eminem. And ten years of age is not the typical age for starting to listen to the controversial rappers lyrics.
But sometimes norms have to be broken for great things to happen, and it did in this scenario. Ten year old Teejay Stainer was born without a calf bone in his right leg, and had it amputated when he was just fourteen months old.
Teejay, whose parents are huge hip hop fans and introduced him to the genre very early on, became a huge Eminem fan. So much so, that he had the singer’s face engraved on one of his prosthetic legs. He did so because he said Eminem’s songs helped him overcome the challenges in his life; we all know how Shady loves the underdog, ghetto anthem tunes.
Knowing how much Teejay loved the rap star, his parents posted this picture online, hoping that Eminem would see it one day.
Luckily for him, the rapper did see the picture one day. Going one better from Teejay’s wish, Em sent him an autographed CD of his 2010 album, Recovery.
“I was amazed when I saw the CD,” he told the Daily Echo. “I just wanted to thank him for getting me through the difficult times and show him how dedicated I am. I think he sent me that album [Recovery] in particular because of the recovery that I’ve made.”
Big-ups to Slim Shady.
