June 3, 2015; a date that every Ghanaian would remember for a long time to come. It was the day of a twin fire/flood disaster that killed over 100 Ghanaians in a horrific manner.
The aftermath was a slew of promises from a shocked government, and everyone waited to see the changes that would be made. It’s only been four months, but nothing has really changed.
A heavy downpour, that began very late on Thursday and continued through the day on Friday has brought back the dreaded floods. A huge chunk of the capital, including Circle, Kaneshie, and parts of Labadi, amongst others; are currently filled up with flood waters. For most people who have business around these busy parts of the city, the flood experience has returned with a vengeance.
The below photos show how forlorn the experience can be. Seems the phrase ‘never again’ is not something the Ghanaian politician understands…
