Ghana’s third largest political party, Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has unveiled its parliament candidate-Vivian Tettey for Sunyani East constituency ahead of the 2016 general elections in the country.
National Chairman of the party, Nii Alottey Brew Hammond entreated all Ghanaians to vote massively for the Progressive People’s Party in the upcoming elections.
He said Ghanaians need a change and of government, and it’s only the PPP which is poised to rescue Ghana from incompetence, greed, corruption and poverty.
According to him, the PPP government will ensure that the country has independent prosecutors to help combat the bribery and corruption canker.
Nii Brew Hammond averred that the current economic hardship and erratic power supply will be a thing of the past if the PPP is mandated to steer the affairs of the nation.
He called on party members to throw their weight behind the parliamentary candidate, Mrs. Vivian Tettey to ensure victory for the party.
He added that the total development that the country is yearning for could become reality if Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives are being elected.
General Secretary of PPP, Mr. Kofi Asamoah Siaw pronounced that a vote for the party may not be a waste ballot as the so called big political parties in the country will claim.
According to him, a waste ballot is the one that the voter does not get any benefit from the political party he/she voted for when they assume the highest office of the land.
“PPP must be the first choice of every Ghanaian, anyone who vote for us is making a statement of choice,” he said.
Speaking on the current debate on the voters’ register; Mr. Kofi Asamoah said Ghana could have a credible register if the national identification cards are used as a module for registration of new voters who attain the age of 18.
He added that, the Electoral Commission should put the right mechanism in place and ensure that electorates have confidence in voters’ register and electoral process.
Mr. Asamoah announced that the party will hold its 2015 National Convention on Saturday 31st October, 2015 at Takoradi in the Western Region.
According to him, “The main purpose of the convention is to look at the way forward fro the party and strategize to form Government in 2016 of which all constituencies have begun parliamentary primaries to select candidates for the 2016 general elections.
Parliamentary Aspirant for PPP in the Sunyani East, Mrs. Vivian Tettey said; she will do whatever she can to warrant the wellbeing of women if she is bestowed to represent her constituents in parliament.
She added that, “When a woman is empowered then the whole community has been empowered.
“Empowering women to participate fully in economic life across all sectors is essential to build stronger economy and improve the quality of life for women, men, families and communities.”
