How rich is Justice Paul Dery to be throwing away money this way? Then again, if he is rich, why the corruption allegation?
This man has sued almost everyone in Ghana, with the exception of his own mother and himself. Soon, he may sue himself—and it’s all over Anas’ video which exposes Ghana’s corrupt judicial system.
Ahead of the Accra screening of Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye investigative video in Accra, Justice Paul Dery, one of the 34 judges alleged in the video as corrupt for taking bribe on camera sued. He sued the Accra International Conference Centre, Anas and his team and outlets like Starr Fm and their bosses.
At the time, the ‘disgraced’ judge brought the suit against the Director of Estates and General Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Manager of the Accra International Conference Centre and the Attorney General.
The judge in his suit argued that, if Anas Aremeyaw Anas is allowed to premiere this video on the 22 and 23 September as scheduled, he would suffer prejudice and irreparable damage should it later be found that the contents of the investigative work were unlawfully obtained—and as such, he wants the court to restrain those mentioned names so the showing does not take place.
Nothing came out of it—and the Accra screening of the video took place.
Even before that, Justice Paul Dery had sued at the Fast Track division of the High Court. The judge in his writ was seeking a total of 17 reliefs, including, “A declaration that the 1st Defendant (Tiger Eye PI) obtained the contents of the audio-visual recording unlawfully.”
That too seems to be pending.
And now, he has sued again—the movie is to be screened in Kumasi and as such, he is going after the venue and the various radio stations supporting the screening.
According to Joy FM; “Justice Dery has filed an application for interlocutory injunction in the Kumasi High Court.
He wants the Kumasi branch of Golden Tulip, Ultimate Radio, and Tiger Eye PI to be restrained from screening a video in which some 34 judges and about 100 judicial staff and police officers were allegedly caught receiving bribes to pervert justice.
The Kumasi-based radio station is running advertisements of Tiger Eye PI, the company of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas which filmed the alleged briberies.
Golden Tulip is being advertised as the venue for the screening scheduled for Friday evening, October 2, 2015.”
Next, this man will sue Anas’ mother for giving birth to the journalist.
According to Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the screening in Kumasi has been suspended because of Justice Derby’s suit—so this time, he has achieved something.
Let’s clap for Justice Derby…
