Ghana’s Newly Commissioned FPSO Named After Former President Attah Mills

The late John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills

The 2nd Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) commissioned for Ghana’s oil and gas exploration has been named after former President John Evans Attah Mills.

The vessel, which was built in Singapore, was christened in the Asian country by current first lady, Lordina Mahama, and is expected in Ghana by December.

The FPSO Prof. John Evans Atta Mills will be for the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (TEN) project in the Western region.

This would be Ghana’s second FPSO, after the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, which has been the sole source of our oil and gas output so far.

It is expected to produce some 75, 000 barrels of crude per day when it begins production, and has a design life span of 20 years. Oil production is set for mid 2016.
