When Kwame Dzokoto declared his bid to become member of parliament in 2016, many people scoffed because they thought he was a mere comedian. The Pluzz FM General Manager and Edziban Show Host has however slammed those who think he is only going to goof around in parliament because of his occupation as a comedian.
“I have heard somebody say that Kwame is going to Parliament; does he think we are going to do concert there? So I asked myself this; we equally have doctors in Parliament; does it mean they are injecting people or giving clinical services there?,” he told Obrempong Yaw Ampofo, Western Regional Correspondent of Citi FM. “That is not the case; they are representing the people to ensure that the right things are done in terms of passing laws; so that’s the job I am going to do there.”
Dzokoto added: “What I was doing in terms of entertainment or showbiz was also public service; but this is also public service on a different platform. This one is basically serving the people directly and they are going to give you a mandate to go and speak on their behalf. And they believe that I have the connections and links so I can easily lobby for things to get to them.”
