One of the alleged corrupt judges of the High Court-Justice Paul Dery is not joking—he is bent on ensuring that, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ investigative video which the journalists intends to premiere at the Accra International Conference Centre does not see the day of light.
A few days ago we reported that since the immunity granted to journalist-Anas Aremeyaw Anas sort of only protects him and his team from prosecution and civil action—meaning, it does not protect his investigative findings from being declared unlawful for disciplinary and other related purposes, Justice Paul Uuter Dery has sued to have the findings declared unlawful.
Justice Paul Uuter Dery sued at the Fast Track division of the High Court. The judge in his writ was seeking a total of 17 reliefs, including, “A declaration that the 1st Defendant (Tiger Eye PI) obtained the contents of the audio-visual recording unlawfully.”
Today, it has again emerged that, Justice Paul Uuter Dery has filed a second suit—and this time, it is to stop the premiering of Anas’ judicial corrupt video which he has announced as going to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The ‘disgraced’ judge has brought the suit against the Director of Estates and General Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Manager of the Accra International Conference Centre and the Attorney General.
The judge in his suit argues that, if Anas Aremeyaw Anas is allowed to premiere this video on the 22 and 23 September as scheduled, he would suffer prejudice and irreparable damage should it later be found that the contents of the investigative work were unlawfully obtained—and as such, he wants the court to restrain those mentioned names so the showing does not take place.
Justice Paul Dery is seeking “a declaration that the intended public screening of the contents of the audio visual recordings to the public by Tiger Eye P I at the AICC is prejudicial to the plaintiff’s right to a fair hearing. He is also seeking an order restraining the defendants and their agents from making the AICC available for the intended public screening of the said video from September 22 to September 23, 2015.”
“A perpetual injunction restraining the defendants and their agents from publishing the contents of the illegality and unlawfully procured audio visual recordings at any of its facilities.”
“A perpetual injunction restraining the defendants and their agents from carrying out or making the AICC or any of its facilities available for public screening of the said illegally and unlawfully procured audio visual recordings.”
“Cost including legal fees and any other order (s) that the honourable court may deem fit to make.”
This man won’t stop…right?
