The second season of Fox’s highly acclaimed hit show returns later this month and the show runners have made some interesting additions to the cast.
The latest high profile addition for the second season is Vivica A. Fox. The veteran actress is cast to play the older sister of Taraji P. Henson’s character Cookie Lyon. The brash character returns to search for her sister for reasons unknown.
“Cookie’s other family members are troublesome to say the least.” executive producer Ilene Chaiken told EW.
For Taraji, the opportunity to work with a veteran like Fox is mind blowing.
“I’m very excited about that,” she said.
“I mean, I watched Vivica before I even got into the business. And she’s always been one that I’ve looked up to, like, ‘God, I want to be able to do what she does.’ So, to be able to work with the person who you’ve admired for so long, it’s just mind-blowing.”
Vivica would make her debut in the 8th episode of the new season. Empire season 2 returns to Fox on September 23.
