The Black Meteors slid towards elimination after a shoddy performance in a 2-0 loss to Nigeria at the ongoing All Africa Games in Brazzaville.
Ghana drew 0-0 with Senegal in our opening game, and needed a win to make qualification sure. However, the side never took off and badly lost to Nigeria’s so-called dream team.
Junior Ajayi Oluwafemi gave Nigeria the lead in the 54th minute, and a late flick on by midfielder Kingsley Sokari in the 86th minute sealed the game for Nigeria’s Olympic team, sending Ghana well on our way out of the competition.
Ghana, as defending champions, has failed to score a goal in 180 minutes of play and are virtually out. Mathematically though, a 3-0 Nigeria win over Senegal would send Ghana through as the second placed team.
