Comedian Richard Pryor’s tumultuous life is set for the big screen with an upcoming biopic set to begin filming in March, with an impressive cast of characters to work under Lee Daniels.
The creator of the hit show ‘Empire’ would run the life story of the iconic Richard Pryor. It has already been settled that another iconic comedian, Mike Epps, would play Pryor, but the surrounding cast is set to intrigue fans.
Eddy Murphy is slated to play Pryor’s father, LeRoy ‘Buck Carter’ Pryor. Murphy was earlier on in contention to play Richard himself, but that got changed when the whole project went through a reboot.
And Oprah would play Pryor’s stern grandmother Marie Carter. Marie Carter ran a brothel in Peoria, Illinois, where Richard Pryor grew up. She played a very instrumental role in the upbringing he had and would be portrayed by the magnificent Oprah.
Filming for the biopic commences in March, after the second season of Fox’s Empire. Lee Daniels would be working with Bill Gordon and Danny Strong in penning the biopic.
