I’m sure you remember the judge who ordered a convicted goat thief to be paraded through the streets of the town with the goat he stole around his neck, or face prison.
That decision caused quite the uproar, as people debated the merits or otherwise of that kind of unusual punishment.
Well, turns out if you’re an officer of the law, you cannot just decide things you want to be done. He has been asked to proceed on leave as an investigation is carried out into the circumstances surrounding the case.
According to the Daily Graphic, the Judicial Service is conducting a thorough investigation to determine if the judge overstepped his bounds in ordering that kind of punishment. A committee is to carry out the enquiry.
In the meantime, the judge is to sit at home and cool his heels.
