I often try to fathom at what kind of goodies is offered that would make anyone in their right senses voluntarily get up and say they’re going to join a group that’s so self evidently barbaric and has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
Yet ISIS has proven very effective at recruiting. They’ve convinced people to leave the comfort of their homes in Europe and America to join them in war torn Iraq and Syria. Since these are religious nuts I must conclude I can never fathom what’s at the bottom of their craziness.
Nazir Nortei Alema, a 25-year-old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been identified as one of ten Muslim Youth who have been radicalised and have left the country to join the Islamic State (IS) Terror group, reports the Daily Guide.
According to the Accra Daily, Nazir and his friends left the country earlier this month, soon after the former completed his mandatory National Service with the Statistical Service.
His father, who spoke to the newspaper, claimed his son sent the family a message that he was on his way to Prestea on official assignment. He however, sent another one after a while to divulge his diabolical intentions.
“Pray for me, for I will never forget you in my prayer and it’s my hope and prayer that we meet again if not in this world then in Jannah (paradise). I love you all. May Allah grant us understanding and guide us all to the straight path. Asalaamu alaikum.
“I told you a lie to please my Allah. The deception was to go do some research work in far away Prestea while the main idea was to move far away from you all to the Islamic State (IS). I know it might sound kind of crazy for you but your son really had to take this bold step to get out of the corrupt system of Ghana which has democracy first on its list. You can follow this link to know about the ‘shirk’ called democracy islamqa.info/en/98134”.
The family is convinced the message is genuine because they say some of his other friends cannot be found, and also that they were in a WhatsApp group together which they believe was used to radicalise them.
They said they’re making this public so other people can watch out and prevent any future occurrence.
