Nominees Revealed For Sports Writers Association Of Ghana Awards: Gyan, Ayew, And Afful To Contest For Footballer Of The Year Award

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) would hold their flagship awards on the night of October 3, to honour the best in Ghana sports.

The event, slated for the Banquet Hall at the State House, would be the first to be held under the auspices of newly appointed President, the veteran Kwabena Yeboah.

Competing for the Footballer of the Year Award are three of the Black Stars top dogs; captain Asamoah Gyan, his deputy Andre Ayew, and defender Harrison Afful.

Several other awards would be given out on the night. Below is the full list of nominees….

Edmund Zankoh – Contribution to the development and promotion of hockey in Ghana.

Anthony Baffoe- Contribution to the development of football, esp. at the World Cup Brazil 2014.

Magnus Rex Danquah – Contribution to the development of sports in Ghana.

Akolya Pattel – Contribution to the development and promotion of cricket in Ghana.

Corporate Awards:

McDan Ghana Limited – Contribution to the development and promotion of Tennis in Ghana

Dwadifo Adanfo – Contribution to the development of hockey in Ghana.
