After a few weeks of hide and seek with government and at the cost of over 500 Ghanaian lives our good doctors have decided to resume work.
Maybe they realised the futility of playing with a government that isn’t ready to play ball, or maybe they finally remembered that pesky Hippocratic thingy they swear before starting work.
Either way, they would be back at post from next Monday.
A statement signed by the President and General Secretary of GMA, Dr. Kwabena Opoku-Adusei and Dr. Frank Serebour, communicated the decision. They said the appeals of some eminent organisations and individuals and that of the general public informed their decision.
However, the statement assured their members they would remain in negotiations with government to get the conditions of service they went on strike for.
It’s almost as if nothing has changed from when they decided to go on strike and those lives have been lost for nothing.
