Discrimination like this is only ever present due to ignorance, nothing else. If people really understand the natural world and how mutation occurs within cells, we would realise being different is nothing more than a variation on what we’re comfortable with.

But why worry with pesky science when religion and superstition can handle everything for you. Never mind the best explanation any of those two can give to scientific mysteries would be the work of the devil.

A 23 year old albino man in Nigeria committed suicide due to what he termed the stigma attached to his condition.

Ugochukwu Ekwe, of Festac Town, Lagos, had refused to eat for days prior to the suicide, as he constantly lamented the treatment meted out to him by others due to his albinism.

Last Sunday, he refused going to church with the rest of the family. His dangling body was discovered upon their return, reports the Vanguard.

Investigations revealed this was not his first suicide attempt. However, you only need one successful attempt to die. As an albino in Africa if they don’t hack you to death they’ll drive you to it.
