The Health Insurance Service Providers Association of Ghana (HISPAG) has revealed that five hundred people have died due to the ongoing doctor’s strike.
Most of the deaths are believed to have occurred whilst people were shuffled from one hospital to the other seeking medical care.
HISPAG also believes the figure might be higher, as most deaths from the rural areas are not reported.
Doctors have been on strike since the end of July, calling for them to be granted conditions of service. The negotiations have made little headway and sadly there seems to be no end in sight to the strike and people dying needlessly.
