Indiscipline And Kevin Prince Boateng…The Inseparable Bedmates?

Kevin Prince Boateng

Kevin Prince Boateng was once the iconic player Ghanaians heralded into their fold with their customary hospitality. This was after he dumped Germany in favour of Ghana in the build up to the World Cup held in South Africa.

He settled in the Black Stars quickly and with his explosiveness and flamboyance, he soon became influential in the Black Stars.

His contribution which eventually made Ghana historically reached the quarter finals for the first time in South Africa 2010.

However, the former AC Milan and Portsmouth star is now a pale shadow of himself partly because of indiscipline. Presently he is without a club. His former club, Schalke 04 has shown him the exit for non performance and disciplinary reasons.

He revolted against the head coach of Ghana’s national team in Brazil which ultimately culminated in the abysmal performance Ghana put up in the Mundial.

He was subsequently sent packing together with his cohort Sulley Muntari who also has a poor discipline record. He has been linked with Portuguese giants, Sporting Lisbon but insiders say the deal will never materialize because of his resume.

On January 3, 2013 Kevin was on the spotlight when he was racially abused by Pro Patria in a mid friendly against his team AC Milan. He reacted angrily by kicking the ball into the stands before leaving the pitch.

His team mates showed solidarity by leaving with him. His action was praised by football pundits across the world as some saw it an antidote to somewhat a step closer in ending racism.

Since his last game against FC Koln on 11 May 2015, Boateng has never played any competitive football.

With his bad with reputation, lots of fans don’t want him to rekindle his relationship with the national team to rejuvenate his ailing career as that has been his modus operandi. It is obvious indiscipline players do not flourish with the career and the earlier Kevin realizes that, the better.
