Former President John Agyekum Kuffour received another honourary doctorate to add to his already impressive lists of accolades.
The University of Education, Winneba, awarded the second President of the 4th republic for his exemplary leadership, and contributions towards the development of the University and other endeavours.
Also awarded were the Rev Dr Livingstone Buama, a former acting Chairman of the Council of the University of Education Winneba, Alhaji Gibrine Adam, President of the Zenith University College, and Professor Michael Shattock of the University of London.
The ceremony was held at a special congregation convened at the Professor Anamuah Mensah Hall of the University.
The former President, who delivered a speech, called for an end to the current strikes, especially the doctor’s, to halt the loss of unnecessary lives. He also called on government to properly handle the impasse.
“I must seize this occasion to appeal to the government, as the pre-eminent leadership institution of the entire nation, to reach out with evident concern, transparency and decorum in its dialogue and negotiations with the GMA, as well as other public sector employees.”
