The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC, has suspended the collection of the TV License fee which has become a subject of media discussion over the last few weeks.
According to the GBC, the decision to suspend the TV License fee collection was arrived at to pave the way for the determination of an interim interlocutory injection case on the collection and disbursements of the fee.
The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa, Suleiman Braimah, is reported to have said that “it is good for the GBC to suspend the collection of the revised TV License fee to do more public education on it.
Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr. Braimah said the suspension time will pave the way for enough consultation and education on the issue. He added that, there is the need for every citizen to pay the TV license fee to ensure effective public service broadcasting.
