Photos: See What Doctors Are Demanding From Government In Current Deadlocked Negotiations

Haruna Iddrisu- Labour Minister

The Ghana Medical Association are currently on strike over their conditions of service.

It has been a long period of negotiations with government that has yielded little results, and thus the doctors have gone ahead and implemented their threats.

In a very underhanded move, documents detailing their demands have been ‘leaked’ to the press, possibly by the government to curry favour from the public.

In a long list of demands, the Ghana Medical Association demands amongst others…

40% of basic salary as accommodation allowance per month

Fuel allowance of between 80 and 100 gallons of fuel per month

On call duty allowance of 20% of basic salary per month

Clothing allowance of 20% of basic salary per month

Book allowance of 30% of basic salary per month

Utility allowance of 20% of basic salary per month

Professional allowance of 50% of basic salary per month

Special risk allowance of 25% of basic salary per month

Vehicle maintenance allowance of 20% of basic salary per month

They also call for fully paid for post graduate education, as well as waiver on import duty on cars.

No one knows government’s counter offers, though it is safe to assume with these demands it would be a cold day in hell before government acquiesces.

Below are photos of the leaked document…
