I don’t remember the last time the death of any TV character generated so much debate, or the last time a TV audience remained so obstinate despite all evidence pointing towards the contrary.
Kit Harrington himself has said Jon Snow is dead, one of the show’s directors told no less a person than Obama that Jon is dead. Yet everyone stubbornly refuses to accept it.
That led to HBO executive Michael Lombardino being asked about it during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, and his response was a replica of the many we have seen so far.
“Dead is dead is dead. He be dead. Yes. Everything I’ve seen, heard and read, he is dead.”
Wow, talk about overkill. But Harrington was spotted going into Belfast, where filming for season 6 is ongoing. Also, the fact that he is dead is undisputable; the question is will he stay dead?
That’s the question worth answering. And don’t feel you’re alone, show fans; the same discussion has been raging in the Song of Ice and Fire community since 2011, when ‘A Dance with Dragons’, the book on which part of season five is based, came out.
