Black Stars Defender Harrison Afful Joins Columbus Crew In Major League Soccer

Joining the never ending list of Ghanaian internationals making a move this summer is defender Harisson Afful, who has joined Major League Soccer Side Columbus Crew.

The defender makes the move after six seasons in Tunisia with Esperance de Tunis, during which period he won the CAF Champions League once, and the local championship on four separate occasions.

Afful has been an integral Black Stars member for a while now, serving as a solution to the perennial left back issue that plagued Ghana for years.

His move to the Crew was announced by the club on their website, with head coach Gregg Berhalter singing his praises.

“Harrison is an experienced, versatile defender whose playing style will fit well into our system,” he said

“He has established himself in the highly competitive Ghanaian National Team and has participated in both the Africa Cup of Nations and in the World Cup. After an extensive search, we’re happy to welcome Harrison to Columbus and we feel that he is going to be a great addition to our defensive corps.”
