Dylan Roof

The white supremacist Dylan Roof who shot up a Black church in Charleston, South Carolina, has been indicted by a grand jury, to stand trial on 33 charges, including federal hate crime.

The grand jury’s indictment charges Roof with 33 counts, including federal hate crime and firearms charges, reports CNN.

If he’s found guilty of the federal charges, Roof faces life imprisonment or the death penalty. U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said there has been no decision yet on whether to seek the death penalty in the case.

Roof’s state trial is scheduled to start July 11, 2016.

Dylan Roof opened fire on an African American church in South Carolina in an apparent hate crime, killing nine congregants.

He entered the church whilst bible studies were going on, just indiscriminately opening fire on those inside. Eight people died on the spot, whilst the ninth victim expired later on.
