You would remember the case of Emmanuel Frimpong, who flipped off a group of fans racially abusing him and earned a red card for his troubles.
Today the Russian FA reviewed the case, and handed the Ghanaian international a two match ban ‘for the offensive gesture he displayed towards the stands’
The ruling further added that “The match inspector and the match delegate did not note that there had been any disciplinary violations by Spartak supporters towards Frimpong in the match reports”
“There were no instances of racism. We have no grounds to take disciplinary sanctions against Spartak.”
So the player who was racially abused gets punished, but the club whose fans carried out the actions did not? That makes sense.
Frimpong is not the first; neither would he be the last African player to be abused there. But if no action is ever taken, there’ll never be an end to it.
Frimpong reacted to the verdict on twitter.
But for the Russian FA to say they didn't hear or see any evidence of racism is beyond a Joke …Glad it's all over dough thanks for support
