Telecommunication Giant MTN Ghana is considering to increase it’s tariffs due to high of operational cost which is cause by the ongoing erratic power supply in the country.
The company mentioned that fuel, electricity and others have been increased to over 37% and 45%, hence they will consider increasing prices of it’s services if unstable supply of electricity continues.
Cynthia Lumar, The Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana told Citi News that “the current business atmosphere is a difficult time for all of us, but for a leader like MTN, we cannot afford deprive customers of the 24 hour quality voice and data services because of ‘dumsor.”
According to Cynthia, the company may consider other things before they think of taking such action.
I wonder how long it will take for Ghana as a nation to fix this dumsor canker once and for all. Everybody is complaining about dumsor but it seems facilitators are one way thinkers.
Why are we relying on hydro alone as source of electricity if we can convert solar and wind in large quantities to back our power system?
