Rapper DMX has been handed a six month jail sentence for owing child support payments.

GhanaCelebrities.com reported last month that the rapper was arrested by police in New York before a show, and a judge handed down the sentence during his court appearance.

The sentence was in relation to  “violation of certain court orders or conditions of bond in a family violence case,” according to police, including not paying $400,000 worth of child support.

The 44 year old, born Earl Simmons, is currently being held at Erie County Holding Center in Buffalo, New York.
