It’s shameful and I will explain why…
I wasn’t going to talk about this but on the back of my Fuse ODG’s article in which I mentioned that, it is worrying and somewhat pathetic that our stars think they need foreign validation before they become human beings—I have decided to look at this.
Yvonne Nelson flew all the way to LA and blasted it all over social media that she was attending the 2015 BET Awards—and even had a special gown made for her for this. And the question is, what for?
She did not make any red carpet TV appearance and no one really knows her out there—but somehow, she managed to join the many commoners at the BACK of the auditorium where mostly you would have to stretch your neck like a sub-Saharan giraffe to see what is happening.
I wouldn’t have any problem if an ordinary person hustled to do this—but this is a big star in Ghana, she sits on the first row at various Ghanaian Entertainment events; and this is her here, being treated less than even a Z-list human being.
I don’t get out frustration and obsession with foreigners/foreign things; why would a Queen leave her country to become a slave in someone’s land—all because, she wants to tell the people back home that, ‘she was there some.’ All because, she thinks that validates her…
And she was not even ashamed of where she struggled to place herself, she taped it and posted it online—once again, so she can let her African fans know that she was there. Should we still call these people celebrities?
Below is a photo of Mayweather and Rihanna sitting on the front row—those BET knows, wants there and respects, had deserving seats.
Our ‘mega’ star, perhaps, begged and added money to it in order to secure the least of the tickets—only to be stationed by the wall, like a madam NO BODY.
The fact is, she seems proud of this, even more than when she sits on the front row at the Ghana Music Awards or Ghana Movie Awards.
Deeply pathetic; a clear indication that there is something wrong with our minds—and may be, we will forever be inferior to these people. They will continue to disrespect us because we beg for the ridicule.
Even if our big stars will descend this low just to be in their midst, what do you think they will think of the ordinary?
Watch the below videos of Yvonne Nelson at the 2015 BET Awards (Her entrance and at the Event)…

What did she go there for? Who sent her? These people continue to disgrace. These black americans dont even respect africans. Just like the carribeans dont respect us.
See how is she walking there with the ordinary people. AH I shock give you Yvonne
My thing is pink!
I just can’t stop laughing ?…..hmmmm
Why do our African so called “celebrities” go on about to embarrass us. If our African entertainers want to be recognised, then they need to create their own award ceremonies(not the pathetic ones like Ghana Music Awards or even Ghana Movie awards). It needs to be done in a nice manner.
Lol the funny thing is the first video on her Instagram (her entering as an ordinary person), she’s blaming his friend Chase that he make her arrive late the and that makes her miss hour of the show and the red carpet. Odo Yvonne stop lying wai Tell the the truth about your struggle of entering there. Ah and for last your dress n hair was horrible. The person that say you look good with it lied to u ?.
Omg, I so much saw this article coming when I viewed her video on IG.
oh i shy give her….
Did she really think the paparazzi would be fighting to take pics of her or she would be rubbing shoulders with Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown. I really do not understand why Ghanaian “celebrities ” can not hold themselves in high esteem. I do not understand the validation they are looking from Black Americans.
Ah but what’s wrong if she went there…maybe she’s a fan of these American celebrities and what better way to see all of them at the same time…you said she’s a celebrity in Ghana..that alone should tell you that she’s still a commoner somewhere else and look up to these worldstar celebs…just allow her.. .
