Famed movie soundtracks composer James Horner died in a plane crash in Santa Barbera yesterday, Monday June 22.
Horner was piloting the small aircraft when it crashed into a remote area about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara, reports the Hollywood Reporter. An earlier report noted that the plane, which was registered to the composer, had gone down, but the pilot had not been identified.
It was later confirmed by his assistant, Sylvia Patrycja.
“We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent,” She wrote on Facebook. “He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road.”
Horner was most known for penning ‘My Heart Will Go On’, the iconic Titanic soundtrack that was immortalised by both that iconic movie and Celine Dion. He worked on numerous other projects, including Avatar, Braveheart, and two Star Trek movies. He was a known collaborator of legendary director James Cameron, and won two Oscars for his work on Titanic.
May his soul rest in peace.
