Kwaw Kese Apologises for Weed Legalization Comment & Takes Down Post

Perhaps Kwaw Kese is getting close to his menopause—it makes the men confuse…

Yesterday, the rapper who was recently convicted for smoking weed in Ghana boldly took to instagram to call for the legalisation of weed—claiming that 80% of Ghanaians smoke weed so this should be done for them.

He added that, since 80% of Ghanaians smoke weed, legalising the substance will give those people who have made that choice the freedom to enjoy the substance which sits on Ghana’s statute book as illegal.

It was an interesting comment for two reasons; we don’t know where he got the 80% statistics from—and also, Kwaw had a different attitude towards weed when his ganja case was in court.

Anyway, Kwaw Kese has taken the post in which he called for the legalization of weed now—saying, he was misunderstood and his family in particular did not like that comment.

This man has no balls. If you indeed believe in a call; stick to it and stop throwing your family displeasure out there as the reason why you are backing off.

  1. I admire anyone who goes against the grain and challenges insane social conventions. Weed is natural, alcohol is not. Why is alcohol not illegal and yet weed is explains a lot about the intellect of Ghanaian law makers and law makers in general. In north America, alcohol manufacturers play a huge role in the culture of the North American countries. From sports to entertainment to political contributions. As a result lawmakers, who are often lobbied or depend on these constituencies for their political contributions remain quiet about the ill effects of alcohol and continue to give it a pass. Alcohol is worse than weed based on some of the preliminary research done to date. Fear and some moralistic nonsense is the only reason weed continues to be criminalized. When that is thrown away, the truth becomes clear. If alcohol is legal, so should weed.
In the case of Ghana, it is based on ignorance. The Ghanaian moonshine which is in ample supply across the country is worse than weed. But because Ghana doesn’t have a culture of thinking outside the box, we copy what other countries do. Most of the laws, were cut and paste job from other countries law books. So most are ignorant of why weed is illegal in Ghana. Ask the Ghanaian lawyers and the judges why weed is illegal and you’ll get some tired excuse. Meaning they don’t know.
Kwaw Kesse needs to start a crusade to legalize weed in Ghana but he needs help. That is because although he may be on the right path, in Ghana that is not enough when you consider the idiotic attitude of the police and the general public. That is the problem with having a brain in the midst of the ignorant masses. They’ll turn on you in their ignorant stampede and destroy you.
My message to Kwaw Kesse is keep it up. Use the technology to spread the word but don’t be caught smoking it. Take all the precautions so you are not caught with it again. But be belligerent online. You are on to something here. Changing the Ghanaian mindset one subject at a time is a great start.
    Cheers
