As Ghanaians, we are bad at a lot of things including keeping our gutters clean—but I thought we loved to pay respect to the death.
A video which I came across on facebook showing how the dead flood victims are being tossed into a KIA truck is just not only shocking but also appalling.
Have we forgotten that these people are the sons, daughters, mothers and fathers of other people? How dare we treat them like this even if dead—and allow it to be filmed as though it’s some Hollywood movie set?
Why does it seem like we can never get things right? We couldn’t even do justice to dead bodies by treating them with a bit of last dignity?
These people died a painful death and the memories will taint our progress as a country for a long time, so the best we could have done for ourselves and them is to request that we gently pick their bodies—and not toss them around like some bags of charcoal.
It’s really sad but this is Ghana, who cares?
