VIDEOS: Let’s Be Real Here…How Are These Men of God Able to READ the Bible & Interpret It for their Followers?

Let’s cut the BS and have an honest conversation for once—I mean intelligent conversation and not the usual which is mostly founded on some emotional hogwash.

There are countless illiterate Ghanaian pastors who lead thousands of people and even though I am not saying higher education is the sole fountainhead of knowledge, when it comes to reading and writing, it’s the dominant sector.

Most western pastors are very educated and those without P.hds or two degrees can boast of some diploma or degree in Theology. I still find it difficult to entertain Theology as an academic discipline though…

For one to be able to interpret a piece of writing, the person must first be able to read it and perfectly understand it. And then proceed to correctly interpret it or share it with his audience.

Even as a mere literature book, you need a grasp of certain level of English (particularly literature) to be able to fully get the meaning of almost every paragraph in the Bible.

Spare us the Holy Spirit teachings of the Bible, because we cannot establish which university the Holy Spirit attended and his/her understanding of complex sentences.

Yet, many of our Ghanaian pastors who cannot speak a word of English and cannot write or read are somewhat teachers of the Bible or Bible scholars. They preach the word each day and my worry does not just rest on the obvious gross misinterpretation, but also, this seemingly MAGIC being paraded around.

If you don’t know, let me point it out to you that reading Twi is far difficult than English. I spent many years of extra classes studying Twi to be able to get an ‘A’ at the basic level (BECE). So I can appreciate its complexity.

Here again, Ghanaian pastors who cannot read a simple essay written in twi are somehow able to understand the parables and the many complex structures of the Bible—unless you want to agree with me that, most of them are always talking garbage, this is the epic of real magic.

Watch the below videos of the popular Ghanaian Evangelist-Kumchacha and let me know if you can figure out how this man will correctly read and correctly interpret an English Bible to his congregants.

It’s just not him; they are all over—perhaps, the key reason why Christianity has become a joke in Africa. You wouldn’t allow a quack doctor to administer an injection to you, so why take it from such pastors?
