At the on-going 68th Cannes Film Festival, apart from the big shot movies out here—there are about 2000 short films which have been submitted by film students and upcoming film makers all around the world.
And to be frank, the standard and quality of production of these student short films is mind blowing…
Back home in Ghana, we have a whole film industry in a locked-chain of producing sub-standard movies, something like the one below—and we somehow have no problem with it, we’ve accepted these movies.
Our love for mediocrity is amazing. Sometimes, it feels like we are sick…
How on earth will anyone in a 21st century produce this thing below as a movie; it better be some joke, else, someone needs to be crucified like the Messiah.
Kumawood has come to stay but it stands for sub-standard productions and when you say it, they will argue that people watch it so what is your problem. Of course people watch it—because we are sick and we cannot be bothered to strive for any improvement.
