Eric Isaiah Adu is the UK based Ghanaian pastor whose pregnant British wife died in their hotel room when they came to Ghana for a church program sometime in April
He appeared before the Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court yesterday, which granted him bail in the matter of the alleged death of his wife. Bail was set at Ghc 200,000 with one surety to be justified.
Pastor Isaiah is also to report to the police every Wednesday for the next one month.
As we previously reported, Eric Isaiah Adusah and Charmaine Speirs were both ordained pastors of Global Light Revival Ministries with branches in London, Manchester and Edinburg and they had travelled to Ghana to attend a church programme organised by the House of Prayer Church International in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.
According to the Daily Guide “The three-day prophetic programme, which was held on March 4 to 6, 2015, is said to have been very successful. Upon their arrival in the country early March,Pastor Eric Isaiah lodged at the Koforidua Guest House while the deceased lived with the host pastor, Bishop Yaw Adu.
They later allegedly decided to spend some time together as a couple before their departure from the country.”
The couple could not agree on how long to stay in Ghana for, with the man wanting to leave immediately the woman wanting to stay for longer, a month.
Per the police, the two checked into a Koforidua hotel-the Royal Mac Dic Hotel on Monday, March 16 and booked a room for five days.
“On March 17, 2015 Prophet Adusah purportedly decided that he would not be long in Ghana, claiming he had other engagements in the UK.
The suspect left the hotel at the dawn of 17th March and reportedly gave a warning at the front desk that his British wife did not like to be disturbed and so the attendants should attend to her only when she called them for help.
However, for three days – Wednesday 18th to Friday 20th March – attendants at the facility tried fruitlessly to reach her.
They reportedly became alarmed because her check out date was due that Friday.
Not getting any response from her, management decided to use a spare key to open the door to her room to find out whether or not the occupant was still in,” reports the newspaper.
When they opened the door to the room, they found the 3 months pregnant woman dead in the bath tub, lying prostrate with a white towel wrapped around her, almost in a decomposed state.
Considering the no disturbance message Prophet Adusah left at the hotel and the not so clear circumstance of the death, police suspected foul play and invited Prophet Adusah from the UK for questioning.
He was then incarcerated by the homicide unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the police headquarters. Subsequently, he was charged with murder.
Apparently, Charmaine Speirs left behind an 8 year old son, Isaac—while Charmaine Speirs was prophet-Eric Isaiah Adusah’s 3rd time, having divorced twice already.
