Finally, finally, the much anticipated vigil of our time – #DumsorMustStop Vigil – has come to an end. As some Ghanaians already know, the purpose of this protest march from Legon to Tetteh Quarshie was to mount pressure on the sitting government to find a lasting solution to the erratic power supply and the current energy crisis the country is facing.
What started as a result of a single tweet from actress Yvonne Nelson ended up gaining massive support from some fellow celebrities and several Ghanaians who are also going through the same ‘dumsor’ ordeal.
Even though Yvonne Nelson and her team were expecting about 500 people to join them for the protest, thousands of irate Ghanaians turned out to support the cause. Interestingly, comedian David Oscar, who announced on his Facebook wall that it would be hypocritical of him to be part of the #DumsorMustStop campaign, was present at the venue.
It’s either David is a clear example of a hypocrite or he’s going by the saying, ‘Only a fool does not change his mind.’ Notwithstanding this, he might be seeking extra attention in addition to what he had received so far as a result of his public outburst on this whole ‘dumsor’ campaign.
Other celebrities who were part of the protest include D-Black, Efya, Wanlov Da Kubolor, Foster Romanus, EL, and others…

So after this what is next..?. This government has a dead goat syndrome. They don’t care abt your plight. My voter’s I’d is with my mother because I don’t want misplace it. Look.2016 is just behind my house. I can’t just wait to enter.
Oh but Ghanaians paaa. They gave Yvonne so much assurance. I was expecting crowds of political rally proportions (thousands). Like the “won gbo demo” 1000 – 3000 or more. Dumsor is such a wide spread problem and only 300-400 people showed up and it was even to take pictures with the few celebs that came.! that’s it.
Oh Chale…there is power in massive numbers. This was just like a sponsored walk for school kids. How would any impact be felt, No wonder my light is even off now. Mtchewwww
It is not true that only 300-400 people showed up according to report, the crowd was massive (more than thousand) even police alone were 300 in number
The people I saw at the vigil yesterday were close to 1000 if not over 1000. We will join ANY effort to make this canker stop. Thankfully the President and his boys gave this more publicity. Yvonne i wasnt a fun but all of a sudden yesterday you looked really sexy. One thing that turns me on is a woman on top who makes a difference. More grease!
If you sat in your house and gazed in the sky while you were experiencing dumsor how do you expect to see a stadium size crowd. I was there and te people i saw were more than 500 so next time come out of your house and show your frustration, that is if you are a Ghanaian. There were even foreigners present yesterday.
Kwasia is 500 ppl a stadium crowd? Do you know the capacity of a stadium? I guess you were also last in class. What has my sitting at home got to do with anything. It is my prerogative to be anywhere I wish to be after all where was sarkodie, Lydia, joselyn, Nikki, becca and all the others Yvonne invited huh? My simple point was that I anticipated thousands and thousands of participants. then you come here with your 500 stadium estimate. My friend shut up and sit somewhere. There are many pictures as evidence. The crowd did not even get close to 1000. The police commander confirmed it on metro TV news okay.
Although, not a lot of people attended, I commend the ones for at least trying. But their efforts will fall on death ears as the politicians of Ghana don’t give a crap about the people.
Yes Ama, it will. Thts the sad part and that’s why I didn’t even bother to attend.
KUDOS TO YVONNE NELSON & CO FOR ENGAGING IN THIS WONDERFUL #DUMSORMUSTSTOP CAMPAIGN,INDEED IT IS A GOOD COURSE AND WE ALL NEED TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO CONTINUE TO PUT PRESSURE ON THE PRESIDENT TILL HE RESOLVE THIS POWER CRISES
“a good cause”, not “a good course”, smh
YVONNE “TU KYE MA WO WAI”
WELL DONE!
Democracy, I wish we can have voices is our country too. Love this. I salute you pipol especially Yvonne Nelson
I was there. The crowd was as way more than what is being shown in the pictures. It was massive. By the way I’ve had power more than 24 hours straight. #dumsormuststop
At least she took the initiative to bring this vigil to life, I wasn’t expecting that many people to attend but I doubt it will make any difference tho.
Congratulations to Yvonne and Co. You’ve done us proud.
No matter what happens,u guys have tried ur best at least it’s better then nothing..am proud of u guys.
