With these kind of backward, uneducated brutes in charge of some countries, and their over educated but visionless counterparts in charge of others, is it any wonder Africa is going nowhere as a continent?
As the world progresses we humans realise the best way forward is to live in harmony together, exhibiting tolerance to those of other views and orientations from what we have. That is the way forward as a species, and unsurprisingly whenever you see intolerance on such a scale either religion or massive cultural prejudice is at play.
Comments like these do not sit well when uttered by an uncivilised idiot from any village in Ghana, much less the president of a country. Yahya Jammeh, in a speech at a rally in the town of Farafeni, threatened all homosexuals in his country.
“If you do it I will slit your throat. If you are a man and want to marry another man in this country and we catch you, no one will ever set eyes on you again, and no white person can do anything about it” President Jammeh said, according to The Washington Post.
Jammeh has a history with homosexuals having threatened to behead them once before, and has criminalised the act such that those caught could conceivably face life in prison.
Of course, Gambia is a Muslim majority nation and Jammeh’s rants are driven by his religion. Although the fact he has been in charge since a coup in 1994 and has increasingly used draconian measures to maintain his hold on power does not offend Allah in any way.
