This is Ghana—and I love it.
Those at the top always have a way to win even if you are right and you have a genuine case. I am surprised that it took them so long to actually bring us this—but I am not shocked that it has happened, someone of us knew it was coming…
After several failed attempts by Yvonne Nelson and others to secure an appropriate venue for their #DumsorMustStop vigil and following a petition by Ga Traditional Council that the vigil will violate the ban on noise making and drumming, the Greater Accra Regional Police Command has SUSPENDED the permit they first granted for the vigil to go ahead.
That is a shocking u-turn but this is Ghana we are talking about—everything is possible so don’t be that surprised. You cannot go against the current and those in power because you will always loose the fight.
The best is to sit down and be molested, tormented and abused, If you can, run out of the country but to attempt to jump as though you have a say in how you are treated by those in power is pretty a waste of time…
Now, where are those of us shouting #DumsorMustStop? It seems we have, the #DumsorVigilHasBeenStopped!
It looks like Yvonne Nelson and the citizens of Ghana have lost the battle to President Mahama and those in charge, even before the war started.
And did you hear that government intends to regulate internet (usage) in Ghana, especially social media? Don’t be shocked if we wake up in an African version of North Korea…
What a country! I am out…But we all know what Ghandi would have done in this case…right?
