World Health Organisation Declares Liberia Ebola Free

Published by
WHO

The biggest disease epidemic to hit mankind in a while is dying down, as one of the main epicentres gets declared free of the virus.

Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea were the hardest hit nations, and whilst the latter two continue to battle, WHO just declared the former free of the virus.

This announcement has been anticipated for a while, as a countdown was initiated in the country. A country can only be declared Ebola free if now new case is reported after 42 days, twice the incubation period needed by the virus.

Liberia has seen the most deaths since the outbreak started, so it’s a relief to see them beat it now.

Sierra Leone and Guinea are the countries still left now with active cases of Ebola, before this deadly 2014 pandemic can be declared officially over.
