Even before last night’s big fight, Floyd Mayweather was worth over 200 million dollars—and according to reports, he will make over 400 million dollars extra in revenue from the fight which saw him beat Pacquiao in what many have described as the biggest fight of our young century.

Pacquiao also went home with millions and somehow, some Africans think rich people in the world owe them the duty to hand out—with many saying on social media that, Mayweather needs to start giving out to charities, especially those in Africa.

Over the years, the boxer has maintained that, he will never give his money to an African charity—and since he works hard for his money, he should be free to spend it however he wants.

Floyd Mayweather in a radio interview last year told Kelly Mac that he has a “good heart,” but he does not feel obliged to give to charities, specifically in Africa.

He said; “[People] say well, he got all this money, why is he not giving to Africa. Well, what has Africa given to us? What has Africa come and give to my children and to my family? Things work two way”.

He continued; “Everybody’s always talking about giving, giving, giving. That’s the problem. Everybody’s doing so much giving, at the end of the day, they may not have nothing. Then they’ll say ‘why was he giving this to that person, and giving this to that person when he should have been saving?”

Mayweather was candid about why he got into boxing and stated he never got involved into boxing to give money away. He said I never got into boxing because “I’m going to fight and make hundreds of millions of dollars and just give it all away.’ If I’m gonna mess money off in a bad way, I’m going to spend it on myself. I’m going to do what I want to do with my money. You hear people talking about, ‘well, he should…donate to this or donate to that.’ No, I should donate to Floyd Mayweather, donate to Floyd Mayweather’s family. Because that’s what it’s about.”

Many people at the time said Flyod Mayweather was selfish and today, social media talks seem to suggest people are still holding that position—insisting that he should at least give some of the millions he has to Africa.

I have decided to look at this and question the hovering sense of Africans having a right to receive donations from those who work hard to make their monies—instead of us working hard to make our own and make our continent better.

Undoubtedly, we live on the richest continent, full of expensive mineral resources and we continue to misuse them—at best, we allow our leaders to take all that we have but expect foreigners who we’ve done nothing for and do not know from Adam to come to our aid, all the time.

Mayweather can splash all his cash on the America wh*res and buy all the expensive cars (currently he has over 100 cars) and he shouldn’t feel any guilt about not donating to continents like Africa—because his donation would end in the pocket of one greedy politician who would use it to buy expensive Cuban cigars or spend it on his many concubines.

Isn’t it time for Africans to start creating our own wealth and end this ‘begging’ of foreigners for aids and donations culture? Our entire governments operate on aids, grants and donations. I dare any person to name one African country which is not receiving some sort of aid or help from the many European countries, America or China? Even South African is cushioned…

Were we placed on this earth to become beggars or what? And if others do not feel the need to buy into our begging habit by ignoring our request to have them hand over their money to us, why should we begin to call them names?

We’ve become global beggars…
